Scott has shot film for decades. Though he’s spent lots of time with both an 8x10 and a Hasselblad, his beloved main axe is an Arca-Swiss FC 4x5 view camera with a folding rail, an extension rail, and a pair of interchangeable bellows. He’s used lots of lenses, from a 47mm Schneider on the short side to a 720 Nikkor on the long end. It’s all housed inside a LowePro Super-Trekker backpack.

This is slow, steady going: you’re viewing an image that’s upside down and backwards on the camera’s ground glass while working beneath a classic dark cloth that’s flapping in the breeze. Scott’s main tripod is a carbon-fiber Gitzo 1348 that’s fitted with an RRS B55 ballhead. He measures exposures with a handheld Pentax spot meter, allowing him to precisely judge small shadow and highlight areas.

He’s used a long list of Fuji and Kodak transparency films, but in recent times it’s all Fuji. He loved the now-discontinued Quickloads…but he’s back to loading and unloading film holders in a Harrison changing tent while mosquitoes bite his nose.
